Are you dreaming of a holiday on your own four wheels, but don't want to spend huge sums of money? Then these five camper motorhomes and five caravans each are the solution! Whether as a couple or with the whole family, whether noble or robust: In their segment, these rolling hotel rooms are unbeatable in terms of price-performance ratio!
Adria Aviva 360 DK (Caravan)

The Aviva is the entry-level model in Adria's caravan range. It is available in eight layouts with three to seven berths and with an interior length of up to 5.65 metres – the latter version is already quite a big chunk to set off with as a caravanning beginner. Then it's better to choose the 360, which is much easier to circle over passes and in parking spaces with spacious interior dimensions.
Even as the smallest, the Aviva is equipped like a big one – even a bathroom including toilet and shower still fit into the approximately seven square metre floor space. In the kitchen there are two gas burners with integrated bottles, a fairly large refrigerator that easily beats anyone in a camper van in terms of volume and a sink. This entry-level model is also illuminated with energy-saving LEDs. For cooler nights, of course, there is also a gas heater on board. As with all models, the price refers to the basic variant, which can still be upgraded, as with the car from the options list.

Caravelair Alba 390 (Caravan)

The French brand Caravelair has been building its caravans for 60 years and is now the market leader in France. The Alba 390 – the number stands for the approximate interior length in centimetres – is the space giant in miniature: compact on the outside and easy to manoeuvre even for beginners, but surprisingly lush in the interior – despite the integrated bathroom and shower. However, you also lie across the bed for this; this limits the space for the feet somewhat. With the conversion of the seating area, however, there are even four sleeping places.
In terms of equipment, there is only the basic technology at the base price: gas heating is on board, air conditioning has to be retrofitted. The standard mattresses are only 12 centimetres thick – three more cost an extra charge. And with 25 liters, the fresh water tank is a bit very small. But the basis is solid, the space is comparatively generous and if you only buy what you really need, the concept also saves money.

- Price from CHF 13'000.-

- Interior: Length x width x height 4.00 x n/a x 1.95 m

Dethleffs C'Joy 410 LK (Caravan)

That sounds like crampedness: There are up to seven beds in the C'Joy from Dethleffs - but of course only if you opt for the XXL version. The base still fits five sleepers, making the C'Joy the ideal caravan for families who want to keep their budget together. With a length of 6.24 metres over the drawbar, the caravan takes up more space than some competing models, but also offers a little more headroom inside.
You sleep at the very front and at the very back, shower room and toilet are on board and at 142 litres, the fridge including a 15-litre freezer is particularly generous - perfect for families. The storage spaces under the beds and in the overhead lockers offer plenty of space. There is light from above thanks to a transparent roof hood and mosquito repellent blinds are also on board as standard. Only when it comes to fresh water do you have to make compromises with only 12 liters - at some point even the most spacious caravan is filled to the brim.

- Price from CHF 15'890.-
- Outside: Length x width x height 6.24 x 2.12 x 2.61 m
- Interior: length x width x height 4.99 x 1.96 x 1.98 m

Niewiadow N126 NT S (Wohnwagen)

In general, the heating is not yet included in the low base price either. In terms of price, there is still a lot to add to the N126. For an extra charge, there is even a total weight of 1,000 kilograms and an anti-roll clutch is also available. But if you're on the road in the warm south anyway and like retro looks and the joh factor in your caravan, the basic version should suit you for the slightly smaller money.

- Price from CHF 13'200.-
- Outside: Length x width x height 4.50 x 2.05 x 2.40 m
- Inside: length x width x height 3.05 x 1.95 x 1.81 m
- Maximum weight: 850 kg
- Sleeps: 2; 1.95 x 1.35 m
- Cool box: n/a

- Waste water: 10 l
Weinsberg CaraOne 390 DD (Caravan)

In a lavish eleven versions with different layouts, the CaraOne is on the price list of Weinsberg, a subsidiary brand of the camping giant Knaus. As the 390 DD, it comes in the basic version with four berths, bathroom in the rear and three-burner kitchen. You sleep transversely in the bow, but with a bed length of 1.96 meters, there is even enough space for long legs.
The refrigerator of 98 liters is generous, but fresh water is more likely to be tapped at the campsite with a tank capacity of only 15 liters. Tinted windows prevent prying eyes, two roof hoods provide light from above and there is even an LED light for the awning. However, the compact caravan at the budget rate only becomes really luxurious with a few ticks on the options list. For example, for roller blinds with mosquito protection, a hinged window at the front or a more stable landing gear for up to 1,350 kilograms of weight. For the satellite system including TV with bracket alone, this adds up to almost 4,000 francs. But you can also look at nature.

- Price from approx. CHF 13,000
- Exterior: Length x width x height 5.93 x 2.20 x 2.57 m
- Interior: Length x width x height 4.02 x 2.04 x 1.96 m
- Maximum weight: 1,100 kg
- Sleeps: 4; 1.96 x 1.40 m and 1.87 x 1.17 m
- Cooler: 98 l
- Fresh water: 15 l

Ahorn Camp T 590 (Motorhome)

The Ahorn ACT 590 based on Renault's Master commercial vehicle is one of the semi-integrated motorhomes. This means that the chassis carries its living area like a backpack and it therefore protrudes over the cabin. Especially in narrow Ticino villages, you have to be careful, because the piggyback house is not only higher, but also significantly wider than the driver's cab. There is no choice when it comes to the drive – a turbodiesel with exhaust gas aftertreatment and 145 hp drives the front wheels via a manual six-speed transmission.
Despite the compact exterior dimensions for a motorhome, there is a kitchen, bathroom and a comparatively generous double bed with XXL lying length in the living area. A third person sleeps in the alcove above the driver's cab and optionally even a fourth berth can be ordered as a drop-down bed. Under the bed in the rear there is still enough space to take camping furniture or an additional tent with you. Here, too, the list of extras is almost inexhaustible – it includes, for example, 20 hp more power, assistance systems for the driver or a panoramic glass roof.

- Price from CHF 46'500.-
- Drive: Diesel, 107 kW/145 hp
- Fuel consumption: approx. 12.8 l/100 km
- CO2 emissions: 336 g/km
- Height 2.96 m

Forster V599 HB Livin' Up (Motorhome)

Ride lengthwise, sleep laterally: The Forster V599 carries its double bed in the rear at right angles to the direction of travel. This provides space in the living area, but cuts off a little footspace. But not every camper is over two meters tall. Nevertheless, the V599 is one of the most spacious fully integrated motorhomes, in which the living cabin does not protrude over the driver's cabin. This makes it handy to drive, not only for camping beginners.
In addition to the two rear beds, which are arranged on top of each other, there is a comparatively spacious shower room, a large kitchen with freezer and a surprisingly large fresh water tank of 100 litres - ideal for camping in the wild, if that is allowed. At the same time, the base price of the Forster V599 remains significantly lower than that of campers with comparatively significantly less equipment. But: In this case, too, there is an option list, including a 40 hp more powerful Fiat diesel, driving assistants or more comfort thanks to electric steps.

- Price from CHF 44'430.-
- Drive: Diesel, 89 kW/120 hp
- Fuel consumption: 9.0 l/100 km
- CO2 emissions: 235 g/km

Pössl Vanstar (Motorhome)

Drive a Mercedes once – and during the holidays: With the Pössl Vanstar, you roll into the most beautiful time of the year with the star on the bonnet without completely exhausting yourself financially. The Vanstar is a classic camper with pop-up roof and camping installation in two versions in the rear: Either there are additional two sleeping places or a complete kitchen for cooking and washing up to slide in. However, both cost extra. For everyday use, the boxes can be easily removed to use an XXL cargo space.
In the cockpit, of course, it looks typically Mercedes: There are numerous driving assistance systems such as Crosswind Assist and MBUX infotainment, which can be operated on demand. In addition, seven diesel engines with front- or rear-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive are available. There should be a suitable variant for everyone.

Roadcar R 540 (Wohnmobil)

Tourne 6.0 (Motorhome)

Do you love to be cross-country and don't shy away from nights in the wilderness? Then this fully integrated motorhome from Slovenia is exactly your thing! Because the Tourne 4×4 comes with four beds, lavish equipment, a 100-liter fresh water tank and a 90-liter refrigerator. So he has everything on board to live away from civilization for a few days. Above all, however, it comes with standard all-wheel drive – as the name suggests.
This is not the only thing that makes the Tourne 4×4 the most expensive motorhome in this listing. But if you include the bulging equipment, it still remains cheaper than some 4×4 competitor models. Awning, electric entry step, reversing camera and underfloor heating with 48-volt on-board electrical system are always included. And for each option, Tourne indicates its individual weight, so you can keep an eye on the total permissible weight of 3.5 tons when ordering. Even if it brings 23 kilograms on board, for example - such an underride protection for the underbody is of course indispensable for off-road freaks.
